Ember Wardens
Ember Wardens is a compact role-playing game that respects your time. You gather a party of four, wander a hand-drawn world, and fight in turn-based battles where positioning matters more than raw numbers. It never expects a two-hour sitting — you can stop mid-dungeon and pick up exactly where you left off.
The class system is where it shines. Each character can slot different ability cards, so I ended up rebuilding my healer into a debuffer halfway through and it completely changed how tough fights played out. The writing is light but charming, and there's just enough story to give the battles a reason.
It leans a bit grindy near the end, and a couple of boss spikes felt cheap on the first try. But the core loop of tweaking your party and testing a new combo kept pulling me back.
